Job Summary:
Cardno Emerging Markets (UK) Ltd. is seeking a Team Leader candidate in our preparation for the anticipated DFID Start-up! programme, focused on improving in the-country support (both financial and non-financial) for start-up companies in DFID focus countries. The aim of the programme is to create a local environment in which entrepreneurs can access the financial capital, skills and professional networks they need to transform a business idea into reality and thus achieve an outcome of supporting the creation of high productivity jobs and improved incomes in key sectors of developing economies.
This will be a post covering multiple countries, including Ghana, Kenya and South Africa. The Team Leader will be responsible for the strategic vision, overall delivery and results of the programme.
The ideal candidate will be a private sector development specialist with at least 15 years’ experience of financial and non –financial instruments and tools. He or she will have:
•At least 5 years’ experience of working for DFID, and/or one of the major bilateral donors including USAID for example
•Practical experience of market systems development/M4P
•Experience in in the design and development of enterprise ecosystems and SME support programmes Sub-Saharan Africa
•Outstanding Team Leadership skills with experience of leading a large multi-annual programme – ideally one covering multiple countries
•Challenge/Grant Fund management experience.
