Job Details:
Role Summary/PurposeThe Lead Engine Controls Engineer will lead the development of state-of-the-art engine controls and will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. You will utilize your experience or expertise in leading others to solve problems with an emphasis on people, product, and process. You will develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to affect business goals.
Essential ResponsibilitiesIn addition, you will:
*.Develop and enhance Engine control strategies
*.Develop Engine control system architecture
*.Prototype new engine control concepts / enhancements through modeling and simulation
*.Develop and define Engine control feature / diagnostics requirements
*.Lead integration and coordination of the engine control strategy with the engine and other vehicle subsystems
*.Develop, enhance and document DFMEA
*.Support Diagnostics development including strategy development, modeling and simulation
*.Diagnose and resolve engine controls issues by leading test cell and locomotive data collection and root cause analysis
*.Support Feature calibration and validation efforts in the engine test cell and on the field
*.Develop SIMULINK models
*.Develop Feature test procedures to ensure the model development is in line with the requirements
*.Work with a cross-functional team to identify and address control strategy adaptations
*.Lead the execution of design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
*.Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project as well as becoming technically engaged with other functional groups to maintain efficient project execution
*.Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
*.Provide timely communications to technical and line management on significant issues, impacts, or developments which effect schedule, costs, scope of work, or resources
*.Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
*.Ensure proper documentation of technical data is generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks are consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Qualifications/Requirements
*.Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or college
*.Minimum of 3 years on-the-job experience in defining and developing diesel engine controls, such as common rail diesel fuel injection systems, and air-handling systems of turbocharged EGR diesel engines
*.Minimum of 3 years of experience with modeling, simulation, calibration tools used in engine control system development

*.Personal Computer (PC) proficiency with standardized Microsoft (MS) Office products
*.Master’s degree and / or PhD in Mechanical / Electrical / Aerospace Engineering..
