Product Specialist: Access Services | Vodacom- South Africa

Job Details:
Role Purpose
To assist product manager to develop new Access Network & broadband products & services as prescribed by Vodacom Business executive.
(Broadband Fibre, Wireless, LTE, Satellite & DSL as well as managed satellite services).
Assist with the Management of existing ‘Access Services’ products and services.
Provide monthly executive, management and system reports on Access products and services activity and performance.
Provide support to sales force and business partners in terms of product awareness and training.
The main areas of responsibility relating to this function are the following:
Follow defined product methodology in terms of taking product to market.
Analyse products through the various stages in the product life cycle.
Conduct required market research if and when required to accurately capture customer / business needs and views.
Define new products to be developed that will meet specific identified customer needs.
Work with various parts of the business to develop and launch new products or services.
Understand the target market and ensure the marketing effort is directed towards identified segments in the most effective manner, including providing strategic product direction based on Access Services market trends, customer needs and market opportunities
Work with Marketing to develop merchandising, promotions and advertising campaigns for products.
Stimulate support of the product among the sales force.
Assist with the development of business processes and integration into OSS/BSS systems.
Customer interfacing regarding existing and new products in category.
Gather intelligence on the product performance, customer and distribution channel attitudes.
Identify problems and opportunities within the market.
Initiate product improvements to meet changing market needs.
Liaise with various divisions within VSP and SP’s and external vendors in order to ensure that the product meets overall objectives.
Ensure inter-department product communication takes place and regular updates on new and existing products.
Where required, managing of product contracts and agreements both internal and external to Vodacom (includes vendors and business partners)
Where required, assist in managing aspects of the Access Services partnerships and upstream suppliers.
Prepare product presentations and information / training material on the product’
Compile monthly product management reports analysing the growth and decline of the product.
Assist with the Development of New Products
Manage existing Products

Job Knowledge:
Layer 2 & 3 Access products & services and how it relates to the Internet and VPN Products and Services which is carried over the access.
Broadband technologies and products
Exceptionally strong knowledge of access services and Satellite services will be beneficial.
Exceptionally strong knowledge of the Telecommunications market landscape
Strong knowledge of the regulatory environment
Strong knowledge of the competitor landscape.
Product Management background / experience
Knowledge of Fixed and Broadband Access & IP Products and Services
Computer applications (includes: Microsoft Word, Visio, PowerPoint, Excel and Project)
Financial Management and/or Accounting practices.
Education:
Job Education & Experience:
Relevant 3 years Degree or National Diploma essential and
Minimum 3 years relevant product development & management experience in the ICT industry...
