Environmental Engineer | Bechtel Corporation- Egypt

Job Details:
Works closely with BP field environmental representative, Bechtel field engineering and subcontractors on a day-to-day basis and provides field environmental support services to the Site Manager, HSE Manager and other site personnel to ensure compliance with the environmental requirements.
• Has primary responsibility for coordinating and implementing the Construction Environmental Control Plan requirements in the field and for providing other environmental field support.
• Coordinate with project SUBCONTRACTORS to ensure that the SUBCONTRACTORS are implementing their approved environmental plan.
• Coordinate the delivery of the environmental awareness portion of new-hire orientation training supporting the HSE engineers who will teach the orientation class to all onsite CONTRACTOR construction personnel and SUBCONTRACTORS.
• Conduct regular field inspections of construction activities for compliance with the requirements described in this CECP, Project applicable environmental permits, and Project plans.
• Documenting construction environmental compliance, corrective actions, and notifying the HSE Manager/Site Manager, as necessary.
• Distributing appropriate environmental information to SUBCONTRACTORS and monitoring their compliance.
• Communicate potential environmental impacts of planned activities and the need for mitigations and corrective actions to be performed, to the Project HSE Manger/Site Manager, the Construction Superintendent, project SUBCONTRACTORS, and/or the subcontracts manager.
• Use “stop-work” authority for construction activities that could have, or are causing, adverse impacts to the environment and are in violation to the requirements described in this CECP and Project HSEMP.
• Update the Project HSE Manager on a regular schedule regarding Project environmental conditions, site issues, and Project environmental performance.
• Updating the Construction Environmental Control Plans as required
• Assisting and providing input to developing environmental training programs and their delivery.
• Participating in meetings with subcontractors, customers, project team to advise them of environmental requirements that may affect project the construction schedule, and cost.
BSc in environmental science or engineering with 5-10 years of broad-based environmental experience across a wide variety of media
Environmental skills on air emissions issues and permitting, wastewater discharge criteria and permitting, waste management, spill prevention and response, environmental inspections and compliance auditing.
Advanced
Working knowledge of permitting processes, regulatory requirements. International experience is desirable.

Intermediate
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required for interfacing with the client and with engineering and construction teams
General knowledge of construction methods and practical environmental mitigation measures
Demonstrated ability to deal with complex environmental issues, regulatory requirements, and various construction activities is desired.
Demonstrated ability for technical problem solving, technical writing, and computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel) is required...
