Job Details:
To manage and oversee the daily trade operations of the team at GSSC , Nairobi supporting Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, Botswana and Zambia business with the aim of maximizing the productivity, expertise and professionalism of the team in the following products; Open Account Trade, Import and Export bills for collection and Guarantees. Specifically to ensure:

Support to the Spokes countries in identifying new or additional marketing opportunities and using a range of import and export services & products in the furtherance of achieving maximum profitability for the bank
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1.To provide input to the development of efficient, compliant and customer focused strategy, policies and processes in liaison with the business and effectively implement the same.
2.To ensure high levels of operational efficiency, cost control and performance in Trade Services GSSC Nairobi through the strict adherence to SLAs, KPIs and KCS’
3.To work with the Reconciliation & MIS manager to ensure timely and regular reconciliation of all items pertaining to Trade Finance e.g NOSTRO, Liability etc.
4.To authorize GSSC, Nairobi transactions in IMEX (DTP/OTP) as per delegated authority
5.To maintain relationships with spokes by understanding the customer[s business needs, providing advice on trade services and ensuring customer satisfaction, minimum errors and complaints.
6.To motivate, train and develop the team by creating an environment where staffs contribute fully to the performance of the department and have all the necessary tools to enable them to do so
7.To work with the Manager BCP to ensure that GSSC Nairobi has a functional DRP/BCP and raise awareness within Trade Services, and ensure that BCP/DRP Testing is successful at all times
8.To ensure AML and Sanctions guidelines/policies are adhered to and that suspicious transactions are detected and reported. To investigate alerts and close/refer per policy guidelines.
9.To approve shipping documents under import and export letters of credit to ensure the documents comply with the letter of credit terms and to highlight discrepancies which may lead to loss to the bank and customer of an amount equivalent to the documents if we negotiate documents and same are rejected by the issuing bank if found to be non compliant
10.Ensure I remain alert to the risk of money laundering and assist in the Bank’ efforts in combating it by adhering to the key principles in relation to: identifying your customer, knowing your customer, reporting suspicions, safeguarding records and not disclosing suspicions to customers. Ensure staff are trained in combating money laundering.
11.Strict Adherence to SLA’s
12.Proactive identification of risk issues
13.Ensure incoming messages are actioned on a timely basis
14.Ensure that day to day controls and periodic monthly activities are performed
Qualifications and Skills
*.Sound knowledge of Trade Services products and IMEX/OTP by accreditation in Certified Documentary Credit Specialist and / or Trade Skills Assessment
*.Thorough Knowledge of Banking Operations, with at least 3 years experience in Trade Services.
*.A thorough understanding of the market and Customer Requirements for Trade Services.
*.A thorough knowledge and understanding of the provisions and definitions contained in the ICC Uniform Rules.
*.Ability to anticipate customer needs and to recommend solutions.
*.Good people management and interpersonal Skills.
*.Good understanding of Operational Risk including Money Laundering and Know Your Customer Group requirements & policy.
*.University Degree or Professional Banking Qualification...
