Key Responsibilities
*.Primary communications link between community stakeholders and the project. Ensure that messages to and from Port Project & community are promptly handled, in line with IFC Guidelines on Consultation and Community Engagement.
*.Engage and/or consult with community stakeholders as part of the Port Project (MPS and its shareholders) - support meetings, focus groups and presentations with community members, where appropriate.
*.Develop and implement the Project’s Stakeholder Engagement Plan in consultation with the Communication & CSR Manager, the Port Project MD and the Head of Project Integration.
*.Implement of an effective Grievance Mechanism by ensuring that stakeholder grievances are received and managed in an appropriate manner and by ensuring open and transparent communication of Project information.
*.Support the development and implementation of an appropriate Community Investment Plan, in consultation with the communities and/or relevant stakeholders.
*.Work with the Project team, including the local sub-contractors to facilitate the identification and development of employment/economic opportunities for local suppliers and contractors, in order to understand the procedures of the stakeholders’ engagement plan in advance.
*.Support the development and implementation of an outreach programmes to engage the local and national media, where relevant.
*.Prepare work-plans, develop reports and attend meetings/calls, where necessary to demonstrate, record or monitor progress and report to the MPS project team in Ghana and to the shareholders.
*.Liaise with engineers and other technical specialists where necessary to co-ordinate initiatives and ensure adequate monitoring/reporting of progress, in order to flag potential social risks, coordinate stakeholder engagement needs and procedures throughout the project phase.

Who we are looking for
*.University degree or equivalent in sociology, anthropology, or relevant social science degree.
*.At least 8 years of experience in working with a broad range of stakeholders and communities.
*.A background in stakeholder engagement or previous experience working in similar role, including experience developing and implementing stakeholder engagement plans, consultations, grievance mechanisms.
*.Knowledge of community engagement and consultation best practices (for infrastructure development a plus).
*.Knowledge of Ghana and awareness of local issues and community needs in the Project area is preferable.
*.Experience liaising with non-governmental organisations and the media would be advantageous.
*.Experience in managing and monitoring potential social risks and impacts.
*.Excellent communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills.
*.Good writing skills, presentation skills and IT skills (office package).
*.Ability to speak and write fluent English.
*.Competence to interact effectively with local communities and organisations.
*.Capacity to work with a multi-disciplinary team working to demanding deadlines.
*.Capacity to read and understand technical information and communicate that information in a manner appropriate for local communities.
*.Proactivity and self-motivation.
*.Full clean driving licence.
