Role Purpose:
*.The Data Architect will be responsible for the architecture and technology underpinning the standards-based data across the RB Enterprise applications, platforms, systems and services. The ultimate purpose is to define, manage and govern common RB data technology standards resulting in the reduction of technology management costs and risks, seamless data across the RB system landscape, improvement of time to market and operational efficiency, while optimizing enterprise collaboration and information sharing.
Scope:
*.The right candidate will define and manage the overall data architecture, strategic roadmap and transition states for the data architecture within RB.
*.They will define and manage the data architecture principles, architecture blueprints, data patterns and data technology standards.
*.They will identify important potential data technologies and approaches to address current and future data needs within the enterprise, and evaluate their applicability and fit, as well as leading the definition of standards and best-practices for their use.
*.They will provide hands-on application of data technologies and processes to support proof-of-concept development, review of critical systems and training to other teams within the organization.
*.They will support the IS Director – Enterprise Architecture in defining and managing the architecture and technology governance processes for the RB data technology landscape.
*.The right candidate will support the IS Director – Enterprise Architecture in data technology vendors, service providers and SI supplier engagement, direction, management and oversight
*.The right candidate will be a coach and mentor to the data engineering team and provide technical oversight to others.
Accountabilities:
*.Drives RB standards for data technology and ensures that adherence to those standards is monitored and followed by all members of the Information Systems department.
*.Works with the RB technical leadership across the IS department to develop a strategic plan to keep data services contemporary, cost competitive and meeting the needs of the business.
*.May be required to function as a technical lead on projects of any size as necessary.
*.Communicates detailed technical information in both written and verbal form across a wide range of audiences, including business stakeholders, users, developers, project management, and other architects.
*.Collaborates with RB colleagues, customers, vendors, and other parties to understand and develop architectural solutions across the enterprise.
*.Leads and/or facilitates the development of appropriate standards and best practices, in addition to the paths by which they may be achieved and monitored.
*.Develops a sound understanding of existing systems and processes, their strengths and limitations, and the current and future needs of the environment in which they exist. Provides vision on how they may be improved and developed.
*.Understands and explains the interactions between systems, applications, and services within the environment, and evaluates the impact of changes or additions to the environment.
*.Participates in the evaluation and/or selection of solutions or products, including requirements definition, vendor and product evaluations.
*.Acts as an escalation point for technical teams and provides hands on expertise...
