Position Overview:
The Senior Database Administrator position is responsible for safety and soundness of all production, development and testing databases. This position works daily with engineering to provide performance monitoring and improvements, enforce security and ensure data integrity for various in-house custom applications. It requires someone who is a senior level SQL Server DBA with experience in a fast paced 24x7 environment. This is a great opportunity to make your mark in a world-class software organization.
Good leadership, multi-tasking, oral and written communication skills, planning and coordinating aggressive schedules are also a critical success factor. Strong knowledge of database internals, SQL Server high availability solutions, monitoring, tuning, and security features are essential.
Responsibilities / Qualifications:
*.Installation, Administration and Maintenance of SQL Server 2008/2012 instances
*.Troubleshoot various day-to-day problems that arise and fix issues
*.Monitoring Server Error Logs and check email alert or configure email alerts
*.Create and manage database users and permissions (internal or via active directory roles)
*.Design or Enhance database Backup, Recovery Strategy, and Monitor their activities
*.Ability to setup and monitor various database high availability solutions, such as mirroring and Availability Group clusters
*.Develop, implement, and monitor performance tuning tasks (understand PowerShell)
*.Documenting changes and follow change control
*.Provide 24x7 on-call support for the production environments and support development activities.
*.Clone/Restore Development, Test, and Staging environments from Production instances
*.Execute schema and code promotions Dev ->Test ->QA ->Prod
*.Keep databases in synch using (replication , mirroring, backup/restore , log shipping)
*.Extensive T-SQL knowledge
*.Work with application engineering teams in order to enforce standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures as it pertains to accessing customer facing database environments
*.Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently within and between teams
*.Experience with working in remote teams
*.Strong problem solving skills
Qualifications and Experience:
*. Computer Science degree or related qualification
*.5+ years experience administering Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2012
*.Solarwinds Data Performance Analyzer (DPA) monitoring tool (formerly Confio Ignite) a plus
*.Informix and UNIX experience a plus
*.MCDBA certifications desirable..
