Job Details:
AWS is looking for systems engineers to build and expand tooling that provides the first pillar of a framework to manage many thousands of network devices through software. Indirectly, our goal is to eliminate human intervention and errors from network engineering and network build processes by building tools and systems to successfully manage thousands of heterogeneous devices in dozens of data centers across the world. In this role, you will work on a team of systems engineers to create proactive engineering mechanisms that will enable your team to understand the health of a number of globally distributed specialized Linux server fleets.
Collectively working with software engineers on yours and adjacent teams, it is your goal to implement and evolve the systems and automation to ensure the entire global server stack is operating optimally. You will continuously identify areas of growth within the existing frameworks, tools and processes to develop further technical mechanisms to reduce waste and continuously improve.
Responsibilities
*.Be part of the team that shapes the Automation future in Networking.
*.Automate select server configuration management tasks through creation and maintenance of tools.
*.Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.
*.Identify and troubleshoot recurring platform issues.
*.Create and review documentation and process regarding recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, knowledge transfer material, etc.Additional Responsibilities
*.Automate repetitive tasks through creation and maintenance of software and tools
*.Mentor more junior staff in systems engineering, including involvement in the formulation of a structured training plan
*.Participation in entry level interviewing
*.Participation in setting the architectural direction of the team through influencing the technical roadmap
*.Our ideal candidate is highly autonomous, very detail oriented, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.
*.Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to interact efficiently with peers and customers is required.
*.The desire and ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment is essential.
*.In depth experience in working with Linux/Unix environments.
*.Basic Ethernet and IP networking knowledge.
*.Experience with an automated configuration platform (puppet/chef).
*.Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or related technical discipline
*.Software development skills are required, specifically in Java/Python/Perl or Ruby.
*.The ideal candidate will have experience at depth in Linux internals, software engineering and have been exposed to networking.
*.Strong Linux experience from provisioning to performance tuning, and a solid grasp on operating system fundamentals.
*.Excellent analytical skills.
*.Graduate degree a plus...
