Role:
This role specializes in performing and enabling remote technical support of IBM software, hardware and solutions. Provides technical support assistance to clients and/or IBM field support (SSRs) using problem determination/problem source identification skills. Uses technical and negotiation skills in collaboration with other support operations/organizations to prioritize and diagnose problems to resolution. Communicates action plans to the client or IBM representative as appropriate. Recommends and implements new or improvements to existing technical support tools, procedures, and processes.
Responsibilities:
The major responsibilities of the DB2 DBA is Perform database recovery and backup tasks on daily and weekly basis. Develop and maintain patches for database environments. Identify and recommend database techniques to support business needs. Assist in implementation of new features and program fixes in databases. Maintain database security and disaster recovery procedures. Ensure integrity, availability and performance of DB2 database systems by providing technical support and maintenance.
Monitor database performance and recommend improvements for operational efficiency.
Assist in capacity planning, space management and data maintenance activities for database system.
Required skills:
• In depth hands-on experience on DB federation, DB tools like db2top,db2pd,db2explain is a must
• Should have design and development experience.
• Should have database support and maintenance experience.
• Working knowledge on db2 9.7 and above is preferable.
• Should have an understanding of ETL, BI and Analytics methodology. - working knowledge of any ETL tool is an added advantage.
• Should have working knowledge of database products installation and upgrade.
• Should handle middleware system maintenance and support.
• Working knowledge of db2BLU is a plus.
• Hands-on sales management and data is a plus
• Excellent communication skill and should be able to handle projects single handily (Coordinate among the team members, drive various projects and discussions etc.)
• Should drive technical activities/training at offshore.
