Job summary
The Red Hat Software Engineering team is seeking a Lab Administrator to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will develop your systems administration skills by performing CPU, memory, and firmware upgrades. This is an entry level position for a highly-motivated hobbyist who desires to learn on the job. We'll need you to have a solid work ethic and the ability to learn and quickly grasp technical concepts.
Primary job responsibilities
*.Receive hardware from the shipping dock
*.Check hardware in using established receiving procedures
*.Rack and stack servers; upgrade firmware in a Red Hat engineering facility under the guidance of system administrators
Required skills
*.Prior experience in customer support, computer operations, system administration, or a closely related area
*.Must be motivated to advance in the IT industry
*.Some knowledge of and experience with Linux or UNIX
*.Ability to lift 75+ pounds of equipment
*.Strong interpersonal, communication, and phone skills; ability to explain simple procedures both verbally and in writing
*.Detail-oriented and thorough when following procedures
*.Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
*.Bachelor's degree or certificate in computer science or a technology-related field
