Job Details:
A new varied and interesting position is availabile within the Tax Department at RBC.
PURPOSE
*.Responsibility for direct tax accounting, HO reporting and statutory reporting.
*.Preparation of corporation tax returns.
*.Assisting with corporation tax audits, VAT audits and tax authority enquiries.
*.Assisting with quarterly VAT returns, annual adjustments, capital goods scheme adjustments and EC Sales List reporting requirements.
*.Responsibility for reconciling VAT accounts in relation to Paris Branch and Frankfurt Branch
*.Dealing with enquiries, answering questions and researching issues as directed.
*.Assisting with ad hoc direct tax, transfer pricing matters and VAT projects.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
*.Responsible for head office and statutory reporting including reconciliation of tax accounts and preparation of journal entries. Liaising with RBC Taxation Toronto and external auditors as required.
*.Maintenance of financial forecasts and preparation of corporation tax quarterly installment payments.
*.Preparation of corporation tax returns, group relief allocations and group payment allocations.
*.Assisting with the preparation of quarterly VAT returns, annual adjustments, capital goods scheme adjustments and EC Sales List reporting requirements.
*.Preparing reconciliations in relation to the Paris Branch and Frankfurt Branch VAT returns and preparing the relevant journals.
*.Dealing with corporation tax and VAT audits, including investigation of enquiries and analysing financial data and tax legislation and settlement of issues.
AUTHORITIES, IMPACT, RISK
*.Preparation of tax returns and defined parts of the VAT returns for final review ensuring completeness, accuracy and minimum tax risks.
*.Providing focused accurate and complete calculations and analysis for decision making purposes and with the objective of minimum tax risks.
*.Apply specialist knowledge ensuring compliance with tax legislation, safeguarding RBC’s reputation and minimising liabilities.
*.Management of on-going tax compliance and tax administration including tax forecasts, tax provisions, reconciliations and tax procedures having regard to SOX and tax governance.
*.Preparation of CT61s and other quarterly/annual tax returns.
*.Dealing with ad hoc enquiries and projects as delegated.
*.Preparation of slides for UK Tax Group presentations.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
*.Communicate and interface with enterprise wide Functional Units and Business Units.
*.Communicate with Government tax officials.
*.Communicate with outside tax counsel and external auditors.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
*.Professional Accountancy or Tax Qualification (part of fully qualified)
*.Strong PC skills including Excel and the use of presentation software packages. Excel will be tested at interview
*.Tax experience within Financial Services.
*.Some experience within Audit would be useful
