The Environment Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented, self starter Environmental Scientist for immediate employment in the Southfield, Michigan office. The successful candidate can look forward to being part of the AECOM Environmental Business Line in Michigan. The Environmental Business Line currently offers the full range of environmental consulting services to federal, state and local government and private clients. Current staff within the group represents a wide variety of scientific disciplines including environmental engineers, geologists, biologists, chemists, wetland specialists, planners and other environmental scientists. This position reports to Southfield Office.
The selected candidate will provide support to the Environmental Business for related environmental services in the oil and gas retail market sector. Successful candidate will be performing field geologist functions for environmental investigations and remediation activities at retail gas station sites in southeast Michigan in accordance with MDEQ Part 201 and Part 213 requirements. Successful candidate will also assist in the preparation of environmental reports.
This is an entry-level position in a large, multi-disciplined environmental department. Candidate will be given the opportunity to cross-train and expand his/her skills on additional project assignments based on performance and educational background.
Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
*.Sampling of various media including soil, groundwater, surface water and soil gas
*.Installation of groundwater monitoring wells and vapor monitoring points
*.Oversight of subcontractors performing various tasks
*.Completion of Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) paperwork and observations
*.Development of site specific SHE Safety Plans
*.Data reduction and basic report preparation
*.Interaction with the public as a representative of AECOM
*.Calibration of field instrumentation and documentation
*.Completion of lithologic descriptions of soils from drilling activities
*.Field preservation of samples in preparation for laboratory analysisPreferred Qualifications

*.Knowledge of AutoCAD, Access and GIS programs

*.Good oral and written communication skills required
*.40-hr OSHA HAZWOPER training and annual updates required
*.Michigan Driver’s License in good standing...
