Description
1. Provide fit for purpose legal advice, and efficient and competent legal services and support to the Downstream businesses and functions within Shell Singapore, primarily in the areas of general corporate & commercial advisory, contracting (drafting and negotiations) and other transactional work (tenders and projects), company secretarial etc.;
2. Advise on and ensure compliance with all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, relevant industry standards, and the company control framework;
3. Advise on interpretation, implementation of Group and legal-specific policies to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, business principles, code of conduct, anti-trust and anti-bribery and corruption manuals;
4. Monitor and keep abreast of changes and developments in the law and advising business/management on the impact of such changes or developments on operations, and recommend strategies and actions required for compliance;
5. Build and maintain professionalism, credibility and relationship with the business and functions, and other key internal and external stakeholders.
The position specifically involves providing high quality and comprehensive legal services to the Downstream businesses and functions operating in Singapore, including day to day legal advice, drafting, negotiating contracts, advising on tenders and sale&purchase contracts. These businesses and functions include:
1. Retail;
2. Global Commercial (Lubricants, Aviation, Marine, Sulphur, Bitumen), Commercial Fuels;
3. Catalyst business;
4. Trust funds;
5. Related corporate functions;
6. Real Estate;
7. Corporate HR,
8. Any other ad hoc work as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements1. The position requires a sound and up to date professional legal knowledge and skill, as well as a good grasp of the range of business activities and understanding of commercial drivers, with ability to clearly identify legal issues and explain legal risks, as well as find sound mitigations and creative solutions to legal and commercial issues, but within acceptable legal and risks frameworks;
2. The incumbent must have effective business partnering and excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with a range of internal and external stakeholders, as well as other colleagues and team members;
3. The incumbent should be someone who is able to plan, strategise and prioritise effectively, and possess ability to act promptly and decisively, and advise accurately under challenging circumstances and competing demands of the various businesses, and resilience to perform under pressure;
4. The successful candidate must be able to work with minimum supervision with proven post-qualification experience in a law firm and/or another in-house position...
