Job Details:
This role works closely with the Operations team, Contractors, Outsourced Security, Risk & Insurance manager, Engineering, and Human Resources. There is also regular contact with external service providers such as City fire brigade, St. Johns ambulance, DOHSS, NEMA, KEBS, external risk auditors and corporate system auditors, government organizations and external security organs.
Purpose of role:
Provide professional security services aimed at protecting and preventing company property, assets, products and information from theft, misuse, abuse and destruction at EAML. 40% within the sites and 60% in observing and monitoring grain supply chain in the region.
Market Complexity:
EAML is geographically located in populated areas; Nairobi’s Industrial area and agricultural region of barley/sorghum production where criminal activities are quite rampant due to unemployment and unfavorable economic climate. In addition, the goods stored by the company are of high value goods.
Monitoring grain supply chain for 600 barley farmers and 8000 sorghum farmers
Due to market competition, industrial espionage, sabotage and subversion are persistent threats to the company. The main production/distribution centers have heavy human/motor traffic in operation areas. Contractors, supplier, agents and visitors whose loyalty to the business is not strong have access to the business sites on daily basis.
Managing a total of 37 our sourced security personnel
Top Accountabilities:

To plan and provide security services geared to securing the grain supply chain by formulating policies/procedures for Barley/Sorghum growing regions. And be responsible for conducting site reviews, writing audit/review, reviewing findings and making recommendations to line management and /or their security coordinators.

To ensure security of EAML assets and people through management of third party security provider. So that EAML manages safety and risks and enforces the taking of appropriate actions by all team members in order to make safety and risk management number one priority in the business.

To investigate serious crimes/incidences and to coordinate with the police, company legal agents, and Government authorities on the same. To collect, collate and disseminate industrial, market and security intelligence/threat assessment reports to the management and enhance timely response thus ensuring that the teams are updated on current trends.

Participate in planning, developing and implementing programs such as Emergency Response and Crisis Management and Information Protection. Responsible for preparing and maintaining security department budget.
Communicate thorough periodical security reports to management and in liaison with Diageo Corporate Security, maintain knowledge of industry trends, current security issues and security technology and update management on risk and threat that could impact company business
Qualification & Experience:
Minimum 5 years working as a gazetted officer in the government forces, 5-10 years working experience with a security company in a senior position.
Diploma/Certificate in Criminology, sociology or professional security course
Experience in modern electronic security systems with thorough knowledge in fraud and crime prevention and management..
