Description
The Dental Office Supervisor will provide daily supervision to dental team members regarding policies, procedures, training and development, and quality dental care and services. Ensure positive customer experience and quality dental care within the clinic. Model and mentor staff in appropriate problem-solving and constructive communications. Support quality initiatives and process improvement activities.
Essential Functions:
• Supervise day-to-day operations at assigned dental office. Coordinate schedules with provider to best meet the needs of the dental members. Resolve patient concerns in a timely and empathetic manner. Ensure that policies, procedures and processes are in compliance with Dental Practice protocols, state and federal law and regulations and accreditation guidelines. Ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
• Support the implementation of process improvement initiatives to advance the delivery of care.
• Under the direction of the Dental Office Manager, control operational costs by optimizing dentist and hygienist productivity, minimizing unscheduled absenteeism, maintaining appropriate collection processes, and monitoring clinic labor and non-labor.
• Provide leadership modeling of the KP Service and Behavior guidelines. Provides direction to staff following established guidelines, procedures and policies. Actively form partnerships with union designated shop stewards and other union representatives; seek to integrate union selected staff into relevant decision making processes. Direct involvement with patients/customers when needed especially related to service recovery activities and recommendations from patient advisory group(s).
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
• Minimum one (1) year of first line supervision experience or comparable team leader experience.
Education
• Associate's degree in business, healthcare administration or related field, OR two (2) years of experience in a directly related field.
• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
Licenses, Certifications, Registrations
• N/A.
Additional Requirements:
• Working knowledge of state and federal laws, regulatory requirements and professional practice standards.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to cope with stressful, busy environment with a professional controlled demeanor.
• Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Minimum three (3) years of work related experience in a dental and/or health care setting.
• Minimum one (1) year of first line supervision experience or comparable team leader experience in a dental or health care setting.
