The Role
As a Software Engineer, you are directly responsible for developing end-to-end client solutions using a combination of Synacor software products & tools, custom software, and integration with client provided APIs/Interfaces/Systems.
You will adopt and apply standard software engineering processes to design, code, test, and analyze software programs and applications. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the application lifecycle. You will also analyze and correct software errors in a timely and accurate fashion and provide status reports where required. You will have to learn and gain experience in one or more of the following technologies: PHP, Perl, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
As a Software Engineer, Your Responsibilities Include
*.Translates business and system requirements into technical requirements and design documents for the proposed solution
*.Development, documentation, and maintenance of cutting edge web-based applications for our client portals
*.Perform quality assurance functions including unit testing, system testing, integration testing and overall technical oversight
*.Provides production support to existing applications as needed
*.Adheres to software development lifecycle and Synacor coding standards.
*.Maintains current knowledge with respect to relevant technology, tools, processes and related best practices
*.Perform other functions as assigned
About You
*.Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g. computer science, information systems, engineer) or equivalent work experience
*.1 to 3 years of experience with the design and development of enterprise applications and/or web services
*.Demonstrated experience using PHP and/or Perl in a LAMP environment
*.Previous hands on experience with some of the following: Web Services, JavaScript, AJAX, CSS, HTML, jQuery
*.Experience with source control tools (Git preferred)
*.Experience and/or knowledge of Agile development techniques
*.Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment and meet set deadlines
*.Excellent communication skills, ability to collaborate with internal teams, and communicate technical issues to non-technical personnel..
